Nancy Trujillo talks about her family and growing up on a farm near Farragut, Iowa; the polio scare in the 1940s; contracting polio at age six and being put in isolation at the Douglas County Hospital in Omaha; developing a love for reading during her time in the hospital; unpleasant memories of rehabilitation time spent in the Hattie B. Munroe Home for Children in Omaha; learning to use crutches called Kenny sticks; graduating from Farragut High School; attending college in Missouri; her teaching career in Denver, Colorado; various post-polio symptoms; the benefits of the Americans with Disabilities Act; and raising her active family.
